Patent prosecution is, of course, the mainstay of the firm. Historically we have produced large amounts of original drafting, particularly in the electronics and telecoms areas.
We provide these services for a wide range of clients in the UK, North America, Continental Europe, Australasia, Asia and South Africa. The firm has had strong direct client connections in various industries in USA and Canada and equally strong connections with both large and small law firms in those countries for many years.
We have strength in original drafting, no doubt because some of our people have previously held in-house corporate positions.
We have working relationships with associates who work with us in around 100 jurisdictions.
Case Studies:
- We acted for a university spin off company that wanted to create a large patent portfolio in a short space of time because they needed quick growth. We managed their costs, stuck to an aggressive timetable for work turnaround and then helped them through their due-diligence.
- We took on an SME that had plenty of IP, but no IP policy. We helped them develop one, added an invention review process, invention disclosure forms and presentations for new employees.
- One of our attorneys recently went over to the USPTO, for two clients, to speak directly to the examiner about one of each of the client’s patent applications in respect of technology that was commercially important to them but had stalled during examination. Both patent applications were subsequently allowed.
